THE STUD

Sean Hobson is currently the 6th generation stud master at the Martyrsford Angora Stud.

Martyrsford rams are known for their superior fleeces, balanced bodies and ability to adapt to tough veld conditions.

Our stud ewes are well built and fertile with good feminine features.

Our kids are strong and healthy given the special care given to their mothers before, during and after kidding.

We shear our goats every six months in the well-equipped Martyrsford shearing shed.

Our fleeces offer great length, solidity and yolk.

Our micron range is between 32 - 38.

Special care is given to our ewes during kidding season to ensure strong healthy kids.

We inoculate for parasites and diseases according to our management program.

All our goats are part of an extensive management program that adheres to the Responsible Mohair Standards. 

After classing our mohair gets pressed into big bales. After this they are marked and sent to the market.

At shearing time our mohair is classed into various lengths and types and put into the appropriate mohair bins.

Our goats are dosed to prevent parasites at certain times of the year.

Our goats are dipped for the prevention of ticks and lice, but most importantly for the regular cleaning of fleeces.
